After looking at lots of bears over time on ebay and other blogs, I decided to get a pattern and try to make some. I got the sitting bears and standing bear patterns from Sweet Meadow Farms. The pattern is nice and not to difficult to do, or else I wouldn't have been able to make them. I made simple primitive country bears out of osnaburg, as with no experience in bear or animal making I needed to keep it simple, but I will say, that I do really like them a lot, even though they don't have fur. The sitting bear is cute, but I really like the standing bears. They seemed to have more character to me, I guess it's in the head shape and they are so cute just standing there. Here are pictures of the two I finished. I have another, but it is still naked.
I think these bears are so sweet. They look like they are headed to Sunday school or a birthday party in those lovely dresses!!! They are wonderful done in osnaberg!
ReplyDeleteOh Martha, they make me smile, they are adorable!
ReplyDeleteDarling little bears...what fun when taking a break from the dolls. I also like them done in osnaberg...much more primitive than fur. The standing bears are wonderful, but I do like the sitting one too, and the little chair she is sitting in. Nice work (and lots of it), Martha!
ReplyDeleteOh how sweet these are! I like the one in the top photo, on the right. Her dress fits her imperfectly, as if a child put an old hand-me-down on her "baby".
ReplyDeleteOOOOOH what wonderful bears Martha! I like the idea of no fur....you dressed them so simple yet adorable...I like the bells!
ReplyDeleteOh Martha ! I love the bears...I had a huge collection of Beanie Baby bears that I recently donated to Hospice for Children and I miss my bears !! (although I do not regret letting some children have them for their comfort and companionship )...We are coming up to Choctaw this weekend for Fri-Sat nights and would love to see you if you have time to come over and have lunch with us ~ let me know ASAP !!
